As we look back on last year’s Evolve Care Group corporate away day, I’m reminded of how impactful The Alice Years theme was in bringing our community together. It encouraged us to adopt a shared narrative that would inspire us to move forward, to improve, and to be the best community we can be.
This year, I’m very much looking forward to our 2025 away day and to standing once again with our Registered Managers - the leaders who continue to shape and strengthen the communities we build around the people who live in our care.
When Alice in Wonderland was first suggested as the theme for our Care Academy’s training programme, we could never have imagined how a story centred on a young girl’s wild and often nonsensical adventures could become the foundation for a year-long programme. How could such a tale align with the values and behaviours of an organisation in Health and Social Care?
We found our answer in the very first lesson of the story, as Alice’s father teaches her to believe that the impossible is possible. In social care, that belief sits at the heart of our purpose - seeing potential where others may see limits. It’s a message that shaped The Alice Years and continues to stay with us as we move forward.
